Frequently asked questions

Where are you located?

You’ll find us in the heart of South Molton. We are perfectly placed for a visit while exploring the town or the wider North Devon area..

What types of cheese do you stock?

We specialise in artisan British and Continental cheeses, including traditional farmhouse cheddars, soft bloomy rinds, blues, washed rinds, and goat's cheese. We focus on quality, seasonality, and small producers wherever possible.

Do you stock local cheese?

Yes - supporting West Country cheesemakers is important to us. We always aim to carry a selection Devon and South West cheeses alongside carefully chosen favourites from further afield.

Can I try before I buy?

Of course! We’re always happy to offer tastings when possible. We believe choosing cheese should be a relaxed and enjoyable experience.

Do you create cheese boards?

Yes, we can help you choose and build the perfect board for any occasion - from a quiet night in, to weddings, parties, and corporate events. We’re happy to recommend parings and portion size.

Do you sell accompaniments?

Absolutely. We stock crackers, chutneys, charcuterie, olives, and other delicious extras to compliment your cheese selection.

Do you offer gift hampers?

We offer beautifully put together cheese hampers and gift selections, especially during the festive season.

How should I store my cheese?

Keep your cheese wrapped (ideally in wax paper or cheese paper rather than cling film) and stored in the fridge's vegetable drawer or a less cold section. Take it out about an hour before serving to allow the flavours to fully develop.

Have you recently changed ownership?

Yes - The Cheese Larder entered a new chapter in December 2025. While ownership has changed, our commitment to quality, great service, and a warm welcome remains the same.
