Based near Bude, North Cornwall, Whalesborough Cheeses began making their award winning cheese in 1999 in a disused stable on Whalesborough Farm using their own milk. Nowadays they no longer milk their own cows but use local dairy farmers to supply milk for their new purpose built modern dairy and maturing rooms. Being sustainable they use no plastic in the wrapping of the cheeses and the whey from the cheese is fed back to their pigs or is anaerobically digested to produce methane. All the electricity on the farm is provided by Norton Barton's 330kw wind turbine.
