Lyme Bay Bacchus, a delicious off-dry crisp wine displaying refreshing characters of grapefruit, nettle and elderflower, with an exceptionally long finish.
Winner of the following awards: The Decanter World Wine Awards - Bronze 2014, Food & Drink Devon Awards - Gold 2015, Taste of the West Awards - Silver 2014, UKVA English & Welsh Wine of the Year - Bronze 2015.
Wine Making Notes - The fruit was hand harvested from the 1st to the 5th October 2014 at the point of optimum flavour ripeness. The grapes were carefully destemmed and crushed, then gently pressed to protect the delicate flavours. After cold setting to remove any solids the juice was fermented at cool temperatures using specially selected yeast to maximise the varietal temperature. Following fermentation the wine was gently racked then left to age for four months on fine lees to improve structure and mouth feel.
In 2008 Lyme Bay Winery embarked on an adventure born from passion, ambition and a dream: to make outstanding English Wines embodying Lyme Bay Winery's fruit-driven, award-winning ethos. East Devon enjoys a temperate climate with a long, warm growing season. Their search for the right land for the vineyards took a while but in 2010 they planted 26,000 vines and with hard work and dedication they were rewarded with an excellent first harvest in 2014.
Here at The Cheese Larder, South Molton we are delighted to offer you the Lyme Bay Winery range of one sparkling wine and four still English Wines and to be part of their exciting and award-winning journey.
