The mountainous extremes and violent extremes of temperature which characterize Ribera del Duero have failed to discourage winemakers, who have flocked there in droves in the past few years. Soil conditions are perfect for vinegrowing and the grapes produced are of particularly fine quality. Bodegas Santa Eulalia was established in 1988 and now extends to 200 hectares of vineyard planted exclusively to Tinto Fino (the local name for Tempranillo). Vineyard - The climate in Ribera del Duero is continental with slight Atlantic influences. Winters tend to be fairly cold, while summers are dry and hot. Vineyards are planted on alluvial soils and lie at altitudes of 700-1000 metres above sea level.
