Devon Oke, a delicious washed curd, handmade artisan hard cheese with a mature buttery, nutty, taste and creamy texture which has been matured for 5-6 months. This cheese has been handmade deep in the heart of our rolling North Devon countryside with far reaching views over Dartmoor and the famous rocky outcrop Haytor (one of their cheeses is named after this Tor).
Rachel Stephens has been making cheese for the past 25 years at Stockbeare Farm, Jacobstowe. Using milk sourced from her own cows, and other local dairy farmers, delivered overnight and pasteurised the following morning. After hand ladling the curds into the presses they are then pressed overnight in traditional presses and matured in special temperature controlled ripening rooms. No colourings or preservatives are added whatsoever with the exception of salt - which enhances the flavour and lengthens the cheese's life.
