CHEESE OF THE MONTH JUNE 2015 - The Dorset Blue Vinny is a traditional hand-made blue cheese made at Woodbridge Farm near Sturminster Newton, using milk from their herd of Friesan cows. Originally found in every farmhouse, it was an ideal way of using the 'left-over' milk once the cream had been skimmed off! Having died off for a while it has now been revived by Mike Davies who produces a creamier more sutble version than the original dry, crumbly blue cheese. Being handmade each cheese can vary depending on the time of the year and the weather!
Pasteurised and semi skimmed, this Dorset Blue Vinny has a lower fat content than other cheeses, ripened for 4-6 months to give a lovely tangy flavour.
